Finance Manager

Forsberg & Umlauf, a premier litigation defense firm located in downtown Seattle, is seeking a talented Financial Manager to oversee the financial operations of our firm. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and supervisory skills.

FINANCIAL MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations and transactions
  • Supervise, mentor, and train members of the Finance Team
  • Oversee internal controls and documentation of accounting processes
  • Coordinate and lead the annual process for tax filings, liaise with tax accountants
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process at the direction of the Executive Committee
  • Analyze and generate financial reports in an accurate and timely manner and Clearly present monthly and annual financial reports to the Shareholders
  • Manage daily cash flow and forecasting
  • Review and approve all cash disbursements
  • Manage monthly billing process from prebill to bill to email/ebilling
  • Administer profit sharing and 401k plan in conjunction with third-party administrator and financial advisor teams
  • Analyze, calculate, and timely file monthly Washington Excise Taxes and Seattle and Tacoma quarterly Business Taxes
  • Oversee and administer client IOLTA trust accounts
  • Manage payroll processing and associated tasks

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Law firm experience preferred
  • Financial statement preparation for accrual-basis accounting
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively interface with and maintain strong working relationships and information flow with staff and Shareholders in multiple offices
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to balance multiple needs and priorities, excellent organizational skills, and superior attention to detail with strong follow-through
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to distill and convey complex information to a wide variety of audiences
  • High level of confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficient in working with Excel
  • Knowledge of 401k rules and retirement benefits
  • Experience managing external vendors
  • Familiarity with 3rd party online payroll processing
  • Broad shoulders and a sense of humor a plus!
