John has a wide variety of experience representing insurers in first- and third-party coverage disputes, including defending claims for breach of contract and bad faith, and including pursuing contribution claims. John’s experience includes handling matters large and small, ranging from first-party property cases to coverage for mass-tort sexual abuse, the opioid epidemic, PFAS, the intersection of 11 U.S.C. § 524(g) and state coverage matters, and many other high-profile issues. John handles these matters from inception of the case through arbitration and/or trial. He prides himself on providing timely, efficient, and creative solutions. He also has extensive experience advising clients on the potential for coverage under a variety of insurance products, both old and new.

John also has extensive experience in international litigation, and he served for two years as a staff attorney with United States Customs and Border Protection, a component agency within the Department of Homeland Security, where he managed federal litigation with other agencies such as the FBI. He has litigated matters coast-to-coast. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with his family and he is an avid fan of the NBA.
