With over 40 years of practice, Patrick’s current trial practice emphasizes representations of professionals in the health and legal fields in civil matters and disciplinary matters.
He represents doctors, chiropractors, hospitals, nurses and naturopaths, handling hundreds of negligence and disciplinary matters on their behalf. He has tried numerous product liability, premises liability, consumer protection, construction defect and surety matters.
Just out of law school, Patrick was legislative assistant to the Hon. Warren G. Magnuson (D-Wash).
Patrick served as a member of the Washington State Bar Association’s Disciplinary Board.

- Obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a chiropractor alleged to have fractured plaintiff’s hip and torn his labrum during and independent medical examination. The jury determined the chiropractor was not negligent and the plaintiff did not have a broken hip as he contended. The trial, venued in King County Superior Court, was conducted entirely by Zoom.
- Represented pediatrician and his insurer in a landmark products liability and Consumer Protection Act matter that resulted in a $3,000,000 trial verdict and a significant attorneys’ fee award in a case that changed the landscape on discovery abuses. Washington State Physicians v. Fisons,122 Wn.2d 1054 (1993).
- Represented family practice physicians in matter alleging failure to diagnose prostate cancer/wrongful death. Trial defense verdict upheld on appeal.
- Represented naturopath physician in matter alleging failure to diagnose liver cancer/wrongful death. Defense verdict.
- Represented health maintenance organization in matter alleging failure to diagnose prostate cancer, with negligence admitted. Two-week jury trial, defense verdict.
- Represented two psychiatrists in matter alleging Tardive’s Dyskinesia Movement Disorder due to medication error. Four-week jury trial, defense verdict.
- Represented anesthesiologist in multi-party newborn infant matter alleging serious brain injury due to alleged mis-intubation during resuscitation. Six-week jury trial, defense verdict.
- Represented pediatrician in newborn infant matter alleging serious brain injury due to failure to treat neonatal hypoglycemia. Four-week jury trial, defense verdict.
- Represented hospital in newborn infant matter alleging serious brain injury due to failure to recognize respiratory distress. Five-week jury trial, defense verdict.
- Represented family practice physician in matter alleging failure to diagnose colorectal cancer. Four-week jury trial defense verdict.
- Represented urologist in matter alleging complications in genital repair surgery. Two-week jury trial, defense verdict.
- Represented an OB/GYN and maternal fetal medicine specialist in matter alleging “wrongful life” from misinterpretation of gestational genetic testing. Four-week jury trial, defense verdict.
- Represented a psychiatrist in a Medical Quality Assurance Commission hearing alleging inappropriate verbal contact with a minor and his mother. Charges dismissed.
- Represented an applicant for the Washington State Bar Association Bar Examination in a Character and Fitness matter. Candidate was permitted to take examination.
- Represented a chiropractor in a matter alleging spinal adjustment resulted in multiple-level disc herniations in a 2-week jury trial, defense verdict.
